Foursquare is still, for many mortals (me included), in the “How can we use this shiny object?” phase.

Here is a REALLY cool example (it is from the company I work for, but I did not come up with it) of how charities can use this shiny object for walks/rides.

Why is this idea interesting?

– It encourages participants to broadcast their participation to the world.

– It’s a great tool to placate sponsors. You can setup custom places to check in, so if someone is sponsoring a pit stop or water station it can be broadcast via any checkin. What event sponsor would not love having 1000 people checkin at the “Company X Water Station of Charity Ride Y”??

There maybe more reasons this idea is good, but these alone are sound enough to make it worth playing around with.

What do you think?
